HELLO WORLD, THIS IS US

Above all else, pick a location and/or activity that is meaningful to you as a couple. Maybe it’s a brewery date retracing the steps of your first date, or getting ice cream at sunset like you do every summer Sunday. Maybe it’s just a couple tall cans on a beach blanket (yep, this one is me). When we’re intentional with your art and experience, it really does become a celebration of YOUR love. Pssst — pick your activity together so both of you feel good about it 🙂

WEST COAST WARDROBE

As a client of mine, you’ll receive a full-on PDF guide to help you pick out what to wear for your Vancouver Island engagement session, but in short… we want you to fit in to your surroundings, seamlessly and organically. That means seeking out:

• neutral or earthy tones
• textures (rather than patterns)
• roomie layers that will move + flow with you and be comfy
• logo-less items, no matter how cool the brand is (sorry not sorry)
• weather appropriate layers
• explore what you already have!

Pro tip: don’t let the first time you wear your outfit be at your engagement session – make sure it’s comfy and makes you feel confident before the session! These are my suggestions and I highly recommend following them, but above all else we want your clothing to feel empowering and authentic to you!

MAKE A PINTEREST BOARD

Pinterest is a never-ending inspiration search-engine machine. Making a board is super helpful to get visual ideas, as well as ensuring you + your photographer are on the same page in terms of style + vibe (as you can probably imagine, photographers are often very visual humans).

DON’T TAKE IT TOO SERIOUSLY

Your engagement session shouldn’t be a source of stress for you or your partner. My clients know they have my full support in planning their session. Then on the day, they’ll be guided through the whole experience and directed as needed. As for the photos, I always retouch distracting acne and other temporary ~skin things~ as I edit so you have one less thing to even THINK about worrying about during your engagement session. Long story short: this is a no-stress, hakuna matata zone my friends.
