The Intimate Details From Ariana + Colin’s Beach Elopement in Tofino
The Beginning of their Beach Elopement
Ariana + Colin had planned to elope in Scotland, but timing is everything and plans fell through. They were hoping for a classic gloomy day in Tofino. They wanted to bring those raw, cozy, moody vibes to the far west coast of Vancouver Island for their beach elopement. On their wedding day, they woke up at Pacific Sands Beach Resort to a blustery but gloriously sunny day, rare weather for Tofino in the fall! They got ready together before we kicked Colin out do do up Ariana’s dress before their first look. They met down on the sand between the rocks to have Colin’s first look. Colin already knew Ariana had designed her own bespoke black dress. When asked what he thought the dress would look like, Colin just replied, “it’s gorgeous” (aaand that it had some lace and a slit, which he NAILED).
During Their Scotland Inspired Elopement in Tofino
Afterward, they held their ceremony right there with just themselves, their pup Echo, a local officiant and myself to witness. Their vows spoke to how their lives are filled with each other’s love. It was a truly unique and totally aligned celebration of their love. After the ceremony, we took all our excitement and adventured all over the cove. We walked down Sunset Trail, it’s wooden path carved beautifully with the names of other couples who celebrated there. The end of the path opened up on Pettinger Point — with huge, craggy rocks, the closest one blanketed in green. I hit me immediately that in this place, I could bring a taste of Scotland to them!
The Ending to a Beautiful Day
Echo the dog chased them into the photos and they both just looked so dang stoked. We continued on down onto the rocks to dig into their apple-maple vegan cake from Edible Flours. The had a private view of the paragliders in Cox Bay. As the sun lowered and bathed the shore in golden light, we returned, cake, cameras and pup in hand to the beach steps from their suite so they could frolic, dance and celebrate together on the sand. As we walked back to their suite to warm up, they couldn’t wait to get comfy, light a fire and order burgers. Their perfect wedding night!
