Leave Extra “Flex” Time In Your Timeline

Not only do weddings rarely stay on time, it’s also sooo incredibly nice to have moments to slow down, let go and just enjoy being in the moment with your forever partner and favourite people. Moments to soak in all the love around you and have some unscripted fun!

Do An Engagement Session with your Wedding Photographer

This allows you to connect in person. Get in front of a proper camera before your big day! This will help you get a good feel for how your photographer rolls! This will help shake any nerves you may have about having your photo taken and trust the person capturing your big day! An engagement session is included in my top wedding collections! Otherwise we can add it on to your package no problem!

Have an Unplugged Ceremony

To help everyone sit back and share in your joy, make it clear that you’d like for everyone to put their phones (and iPad’s – yes, this happens and it’s the worst) away. Be present for these moments with everyone together. You’ve already planned this out by hiring your absolute favourite professional wedding photographer. Someone who’ll create quality pictures that all your guests (and you obviously!) can share as much as they want!

This will create a much more engaged feeling and your wedding album will be free of people reaching
iPhones into the air and aisle. A couple easy ways to do this is to have your officiant/celebrant make a quick announcement, and post up a lovely sign at the entry to your ceremony. Your wedding planner or decor rental source may have signs available. Here are some great ideas and signs available for purchase on Etsy!

Plan For Good Lighting

What you love about my art is the natural-ness, and lighting plays a huge part in that!
The light and how it’s used makes each photo a special uniqueness. The light coming from our big bad ball of fire in the sky can be super flattering and aesthetically-pleasing. You want to be sure to incorporate as much of it as you can into your schedule. Now that doesn’t mean do everything at high noon — the most flattering light shines before 11am and after 2pm to avoid harsh shadows. If you’re indoors, WINDOWS are your friends!

Make It True To You!

Dig deep together and come up with wedding day locations and activities that mean something to you as a couple. If you want to get ready at home, go for it! If getting ice cream is your signature date, let’s sneak away and take some photos at your go-to spot! And, if you spend a lot of time up in the mountains together, take a helicopter ride up to a glacier viewpoint to exchange private vows. Wherever your love story resides, we’ll make it work!
